Nose Aesthetic Surgery
Rhinoplasty surgery has increased in recent years. The awareness of people about rhinoplasty, the increase and acceleration of internet access has been thanks to easier access to information. With rhinoplasty, the size of the nose can be reduced, the curvatures can be corrected, and the tip of the nose can be lifted. Nasal surgery or nasal congestion surgery can also be performed together with nose surgery. In particular, performing two operations together by the same plastic surgeon gives healthier and better results because the surgical fields to be performed for aesthetic and nasal obstruction are intertwined.
Nose aesthetic surgery can be performed under local or general anesthesia. When it is performed under general anesthesia, the patient needs to stay in the hospital for one night. During the surgery, excess bone and cartilage tissue in the nose is removed. Nose aesthetic surgeries are technically divided into two main groups. These are open rhinoplasty and closed rhinoplasty. In open rhinoplasty, an incision is made in the part called columella between the nostrils and a thin scar remains. In the open rhinoplasty technique, the nasal tip skin is completely removed, the nasal cartilages are visible and the necessary operations are performed on it. In closed rhinoplasty, there is no scar outside the nose, and the operation is performed inside the nose. Closed rhinoplasty is technically more difficult. The negative feature in open rhinoplasty is that edema and stiffness at the tip of the nose last longer. For this reason, open rhinoplasty should only be performed when there is an indication. Problematic nasal cartilages, secondary nasal revisions, cleft nose can be counted among these indications.
At the end of the rhinoplasty surgery, a plaster splint is placed on the back of the nose. Tampons are also placed inside the nose. The tampons are removed after 3-4 days and the plaster is removed after 10 days. After the surgery, there will be swelling and bruising on the face, eyelids, and bleeding from the nose. Bleeding gradually decreases and stops within 2-3 days. Bruising and swelling will pass in 10-12 days. After resting for 2-3 days after the operation, you can do your daily work at home. You can return to work in 12-20 days.
